Layered foraged driftwood forms the structure of this sculptural chest adornment, bound with leather straps and accented with fur remnant. Originally created for a musician to wear during documentary filming, Northwoods Drumguard carries a grounded, rhythmic presence — wearable art shaped by forest, sound, and body.
Northwoods Drumguard began as a performance piece — constructed from hand-gathered driftwood layered into a rib-like formation and secured with leather ties. Textile bindings and fur remnants soften the structure, adding warmth and organic movement against the body.
Designed to be worn across the chest, the adjustable leather straps allow the piece to rest comfortably during performance, styled shoots, or ceremonial presence. The layered wood creates an armor-like silhouette while remaining lightweight and breathable.
Beyond wearability, the piece may also be displayed on a wall as sculptural art — a study in texture, tension, and Northwoods material language.
This is wearable sculpture.
