Keep holds what matters.
This piece centers on a naturally foraged driftwood bar measuring approximately 9 inches in length, forming a grounded horizontal line across the chest. Suspended at the center is a hand-stitched protection pouch constructed from layered reclaimed textiles in deep, shadowed tones, framed by bead and feather elements that hang below.
The pouch measures approximately 3 inches long by 2 inches wide and contains a polished smoky quartz stone traditionally associated with grounding, energetic steadiness, and protective containment.
Keep carries the archetype of the inner chamber — the protected space within fortress walls where what is most valued is stored. The driftwood bar establishes visible structure and boundary, while the soft textile pouch contains what is held close.
Cord and bead elements attach at either end of the driftwood bar, allowing the piece to rest evenly across the collarbone. Materials are assembled slowly and intuitively from foraged driftwood, reclaimed textiles, leather cord, feather accents, and mixed beads. Variations in wood grain, curve, and textile layering are inherent to the design.
This is a contemporary symbolic adornment. It is not tied to any specific ceremonial tradition, but a personal art object representing grounding, boundary, and sovereign presence.
Each piece is one of a kind and will not be recreated in identical form.
