Role
Shelley Novotny — Artist, Designer, Stylist
Exhibited at the Blue Heron Art Gallery in Port Washington, Wisconsin in 2007, this early collection marked Shelley Novotny’s deep commitment to transformation through reclaimed materials.
The exhibit featured three functional sculptural works:
• A vintage dress form reimagined with chicken wire, broken green glass, and salvaged materials — transforming the female form into an industrial-organic sculpture.
• A working chandelier constructed from repurposed rusty bed springs — raw, mechanical, and illuminated.
• A functional hanging light created from vintage local postcards — preserving memory and place through light and structure.
All featured pieces received People’s Choice recognition during the exhibition.
This body of work reflects the beginning of Shelley’s enduring exploration of reclamation, feminine form, and the alchemy of discarded materials into illuminated objects.
